The Club has this season launched a specific programme of coaching support aimed at improving the transition of junior rugby players, particularly in the 16 to 18 age bracket, into senior rugby. The programme includes specialist coaching clinics and mentoring of teams and individual players by senior playing members and coaches from outside the Club. Youth Chair Kevin Beal said" We have a fabulous record here at Dorking of bringing our youth players into senior rugby. However the 16 to 18 age groups are traditionally where we see the biggest drop off, and we are seeking to minimize that effect by ensuring these year groups get the very best possible coaching and support the Club can provide". Kevin continued; "This covers a range of activities including extra coaching sessions from some of the First Team, coaching for coaches events, advice for players on diet and fitness and even tailored 1:1 skills training".
