Dorking will have to face their push for promotion
without young second row star George Kruis who will
play for National League side Barking for the rest
of the season. Kruis’ move to the East End comes as
a result of his progress into the Academy system of
Premier League super club Saracens.
Saracens Head of Rugby and former Wallaby coach
Eddie Jones explained the move. “As part of our
player development structure we require our emerging
talent to play regularly at a minimum two levels
below the Premiership. I can see Dorking are having
a fabulous season but George will benefit hugely
from being tested routinely at a higher level.”
Kruis himself was excited by the move, if
disappointed his Dorking career is for the moment
temporarily on hold. “I have played at Dorking since
I was seven so it’s going to be a bit of a wrench at
first. Barking famously produced Jason Leonard who
became England’s most capped player and is now the
Barking President.” Youth Chairman Paul Mosley
commented "With Chris York at Blackheath and
Harlequins and now George at Barking and Saracens it
just shows Dorking can provide the players and the
spring board into the upper echelons of the game. We
wish them both well. Hopefully it will make it
easier for us all to get tickets for the game.”
